Field Trips for Local Schools

Looking to bring real-world farm and forest exploration into your unit planning? Pine and Pasture Academy is the perfect setting to do so!

With fifteen years of experience teaching, developing and implementing programs across all areas of the curriculum, we look forward to working with you to develop a field trip experience uniquely suited for your class’s age range and subjects being taught.

Build bridges with natural materials and test their strength (Structures and Mechanisms), hike to a pond to experience wetland habitats (Living Systems), or watch a cow milking demonstration and then make fresh butter to see where real food comes from (Matter and Energy). Going beyond the science curriculum, practice angles and double and single digit addition and subtraction by learning to use a compass, or even just hike the trails and complete scavenger hunts to encourage movement competence, active living and social-emotional learning in a natural setting. No matter the subject, we can work together to plan a perfect field trip for you and your class!

Some highlights of our venue:

  • A municipally maintained large circular snowplow turnaround is located right at the end of the driveway for easy bus access

  • Screened bug gazebo with picnic tables provide seating for meals and activities

  • Outhouse and hand-washing/sanitizing stations are available

  • Located just minutes from Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park - option to plan a half day with us to take advantage and tour the park as well!

Please contact well in advance, as field trip days are limited to certain days and to ensure ample time to plan appropriate curriculum support.

Fridays will always be available, but other days may also be an option depending on the week, just ask!

We will not be available during the months of December through February during this upcoming school year - our programs are best enjoyed in milder weather anyway!
